If You Want To Predict Your Future, Create It!

Jenny Copeland, Drive-Thru Success

If you want to predict your future, create it.

There will never be a better time than now to ensure your destination is clear.

I have been coaching now for the best part of 30 years, 18 of them as a professional coach. I am still amazed that when asked “Where do you see yourself in xx years” 90% of people do not have a clear answer.

Ironically, and I have been this person in my own life for many years, of the remaining 10% who can answer that question, another 5% are not actively pursuing their vision, dream or goal.

This is why the Drive-Thru Success 3 simple steps are so important. Each one cannot act in isolation of the others.

If you are not actively creating your own future then you are passively allowing others to do so.

Would you ever allow another person to enter a destination into your sat nav without checking with you if it was the destination you wanted to go to? Taking responsibility for deciding where you want to go is essential if you want to have confidence that you are at least heading towards your desired destination.

Once I have entered my destination and clarified that the settings are accurate, fasted route, allowing motorways etc. I then trust that the sat nav will take over and direct and guide me to my end point.

Setting ourselves visions and goals work in much the same way. The vision is the destination. The end point. The place I want to get to. The goals are the journey points along the way. The rest stops. Petrol stations. Detours either avoiding blockages or visiting beauty spots or friends and family.

If I don’t set a clear destination I will either drive aimlessly to who knows where or never be clear if I am in the right place.

If you haven’t set yourself a clear vision. Do it now.

“Destiny grants us our wishes, but in its own way, in order to give us something beyond our wishes.” – Johann von Goethe

Have a great week.
